State Board of Elections approves plan that includes Sunday voting

ORANGE COUNTY (Aug. 7, 2018) -- The North Carolina State Board of Elections on Sunday approved an early voting plan that includes Sunday voting for Orange County for the Nov. 6 general election.

Because the Orange County Board of Elections could not unanimously agree on an early voting plan, the decision was made by the state Board of Elections.

Orange County submitted three different options to the state for consideration. The state BOE could choose from among the three plans or create their own "hybrid" plan. The board ultimately decided on the early voting plan that included two Sundays of early voting.

Details of the plan have been posted on the Orange County website. Early voting begins on Oct. 17 for the Nov. 6 general election.
