    Some DOG breeds are: German Shepherd, Pit Bull, Hound, Terrier, Beagle, Alaskan Husky, Lab Retriever, Golden Retriever, Chow Chow, Dachshund, Chihuahua, Maltese, etc.

    Some CAT breeds are: Domestic Shorthair, Domestic Mediumhair, Domestic Longhair, American Shorthair, Siamese, Maine Coon, Bengal, Bombay, etc.

    • Nextdoor*, Facebook*, and Instagram* are great online tools for reaching out to your community about lost and found pets. There are other, regional Facebook pages dedicated to lost/found pets such as Orange County NC Lost & Found Pets*, Lost and Found Pets of NC*,  Lost & Found Pets of The Triangle, NC* and  Lost & Found Dogs, NC.*
    • Make flyers with your pet's photo and distribute them in your community. Post them in your neighborhood and hand them out to nearby establishments.
    • If you have found a pet, please have the pet scanned for a microchip. Most veterinary clinics will scan a found pet for a microchip. You may also call our shelter at 919-942-7387, option 2, to schedule a time for a found pet to be scanned.
