Adult Medicaid

Overview

Medicaid is a medical assistance program that pays medical bills for people who meet certain eligibility requirements (such as income, age, or disability) which are based on Federal regulations and State law. Medical benefits may be authorized for services such as hospitalizations, physician services, medications and different levels of care in nursing and residential facilities.

Services Include:

  • Dental care
  • Doctors visits and clinical services
  • Durable medical equipment (e.g. Walker)
  • Eyeglasses
  • Inpatient hospital care
  • Laboratory and x-ray services
  • Licensed home care services
  • Medically necessary ambulance transport
  • Nursing and hospice care
  • Outpatient hospital visits
  • Payment of Medicare premiums
  • Prescription medicine

Individuals who are eligible for full Medicaid benefits receive a Medicaid card each month. Medicaid may also be retroactive to cover medical bills from the 3 months prior to the month of application.
